We linked up with craft beer connoisseur, Brennan Grogan, to get his recommendations and lined up a fun beer sampling to ring in the fall season! Grab your beer mugs and rim them with cinnamon and sugar because here we go! First up we tried Pumking from Southern Tear Brewing Company, which is an Imperial Pumpkin Ale. The beer itself is 8.6% ABV and you will definitely notice notes of cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. Rich sweetness with a dry finish, this one paired perfect with our cinnamon sugar rimmed mugs.
Next, we shifted gears to Good Gourd from Cigar City Brewing, which is much thicker and boasts 8.8% ABV. Cigar City describes this fall favorite perfectly – “Pours deep orange in color with aromas of buttered pie crust, roasted pumpkin, and a melange of pumpkin pie spices. Medium bodied with flavors of caramel and roasted pumpkin notes and an underpinning of floral hop bitterness that leads into a harmonious blend of pumpkin pie spice. Finishes with drying alcohol heat that creates a balance with caramel in the finish.” This was one of Brennan’s favorite beers. https://www.cigarcitybrewing.com/beer/good-gourd/
Third, Brennan recommends Gourds Gone Wild from Tampa Bay Brewing Company. This Pumpkin Ale is 5.5% ABV and ranks 86% on Beer Advocate. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/487/137209/
This beer is deep amber in color and contains notes of nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, and roasted pecans. Yum! Last but not least, Brennan recommended the Elysian Pumpkin Pack, which contains the highly rated Punkaccino Coffee Pumpkin Ale (6% ABV). This exquisite grouping also contains a Pumpkin Stout (Dark O’ the Moon), an Imperial Pumpkin Ale (The Great Pumpkin), and a Pumpkin Ale (Night Owl) so it is perfect for a date night beer tasting.

Pro Tip: Make sure these beers are icy cold to get the best flavor! Welcome fall, welcome pumpkin and cheers!
