So, it’s spring break and for one reason or another you are hanging close to home for the next 10 days. No worries. We live where others vacation so there is PLENTY of fun to be had in our very own backyard. Make this Spring Break one for the family scrapbook with our 10 ideas for awesome fun (one for each day of break).
Pro-tip: Download our free Jupiter Family Fun App (available for iOS and Android phones) and get all this information and more at your fingertips! #ParentingMadeEasy
Day 1 – Make a Splash
With several area splash pads and waterparks opening this weekend, taking some time to play in the water is a great idea for spring break. Burns Road Splash Pad/Pool has special hours starting this Saturday and Calypso Bay Waterpark over in Royal Palm Beach is also opening for business this weekend and is another great option.
Pro-tip: Check out the 10-day forecast and plan accordingly, looks like there might be rain at least some of the week. 🙁
Day 2 – St. Patrick’s Day Block Party
Sunday, March 17 | Downtown Abacoa | 1-5PM | Free | Details
This family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day event might not be as big of a celebration as the one in Delray Beach, but if you’re feeling like you want to stay closer to home, this is a great option. Music, kids activities, and food and drink specials.
Day 3 – Get Outside
We are literally surrounded by beautiful parks, beaches, and outdoor recreation opportunities that many only dream of. Take advantage of them and get outside and explore. Our Outdoor Fun Guide is a great place to start your adventure. Inside you’ll find information about all the Jupiter parks and playgrounds including which have bathrooms, play structures, and more. Want to explore a bit beyond Jupiter? We love this compilation of outdoor recreation ideas from Discover the Palm Beaches!
Day 4 – Children’s Spring Fair
Tuesday, March 19 | Patch Reef Park, Boca | 10AM-3PM | $5 per ride, $20 wristband | Details
A personal favorite, we attended this our first year living in the area and my kids (4 and 8 at the time) had an absolute blast. I would advise ponying up the money for the wristband because mine definitely wanted to do everything more than once!
Day 5 – Play the Day Away Indoors
When it’s too hot, rainy, or buggy (that’s a thing in our family) indoor play areas are a great way for kids to get their energy out in a safe, fun, and appropriate environment. Lucky for us, there are lots of great choices (including free options) which you can find in our Indoor Play Guide.
Pro-tip: Check Facebook pages and websites for updated information about open play times (links in the guide). Many places will have extra hours for spring break.
Day 6 – Stop in for Story Time
While many of the local libraries are taking a break from regular weekly story times until after spring break, there are still lots of fun things happening at the libraries including special themed events/stories/crafts, like this Harry Potter event at Jupiter Library. PLUS, there are plenty of non-library story time offerings in our area including weekly stories at The River Center, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, and Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.
Pro-tip: You can always see all the upcoming local story times by using the “Sort” menu at the top of our events calendar.
Day 7 – Visit the Nina and Pinta Rescheduled March 29-April 7 Friday, March 22 | Harbourside Place | 9AM-6PM | $6.50-$8.50 | Details
Friday is actually just the first day of a 10 day visit. These replica ships will be on display and open for tours until March 31st. If you get a whole group together (minimum of 15 people) then it’s only $5 per person so start texting your friends and make a playdate out of it!
Day 8 – Trot Down to TurtleFest
Saturday, March 23 | Loggerhead Marinelife Center | 10AM-6PM | Free | Details
This free family-friendly festival is filled with educational activities with a focus on learning how to seek a zero waste lifestyle and help endangered sea turtles. There is also a vendor area where you can shop in support of local artisans, lots of craft food and beer, dancing, live music, much more.
Day 9 – Catch the Cards and Marlins Game
Sunday, March 24 | Roger Dean Stadium| 1-4PM | $25-$45 | Details
It’s the last game of Spring Training so if you haven’t yet enjoyed this baseball treat then take the kids out and buy them some peanuts and crackerjack! Gates open 30 minutes before the game and that’s plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere and load up on snacks before the game.
Day 10 – Chill at Cinépolis
If you’re lucky enough to have this day off too (the kids will, regardless) then why not use it to catch a family-friendly flick? You can enjoy either matinee (before 3PM) or Magic Hour (3-5PM) prices. If you go during Magic Hour there are also food specials!
